WiFi QR Code Generator

A WiFi QR code encodes a specific, standardised text format that both iOS and Android natively recognise — network name, security type and password packed into one string, prefixed so the operating system knows to interpret it as network credentials rather than a plain URL or piece of text. When the camera app scans it, the phone reads out that structured content, prompts to join the named network, and connects automatically — no separate app installation and no manual typing of what is often a long, easy-to-mistype WPA password full of mixed-case letters, digits and symbols.

It is worth being direct about what this code contains: the plain-text network password, encoded but not encrypted, sitting inside the QR pattern for anyone who scans it to read. Printing one and posting it publicly — a shared café, a conference space — hands the network password to literally anyone who photographs it, with no way to know afterward who has joined using it. For a home network shared with visitors, this is a reasonable and common trade-off for convenience; for anything requiring actual access control, a QR code is the wrong mechanism entirely, since it cannot revoke access selectively or track who used it to connect.
